England are gearing up to face the Wales in the last of their Women's Euro 2025 group-stage matches in St. Gallen on Sunday.

The Lionesses come into the game off the back of a convincing 4-0 win against the Netherlands on Wednesday, quietening fears that the reigning champions were lacking. Sarina Wiegman's side effortlessly controlled the pitch for 90 minutes against the Dutch — a marked improvement from their haphazard and reactive performance against France.

Wales' first Euros tournament has been difficult, the Dragons having lost both games against France and the Netherlands and only scoring one goal. However, although elimination looks certain, they will be keen to display their dogged tenacity once more — and the sea of red in the stands backing perhaps the best-supported side in the tournament cannot be underestimated as they look to bolster pitch-side morale.

This match marks the final day of Group D, with the Netherlands and France facing off at the same time, and holds high stakes as results from this will determine the two to move forward to the quarterfinals.

Wales will need to provide an miraculous performance in order to be in with a chance of progressing, while if England emerge victorious, their place in the next round is guaranteed.

England vs. Wales lineups, team news

Lauren James, who Wiegman had faced questions over regarding her fitness approaching the competition, held the offensive in the palm of her hand with two sensational goals last time out.

Ella Toone's performance and goal in the 67th minute is also likely to have earned her a spot in the upcoming match, with the Netherlands win being her first start of the tournament. Alessia Russo, despite having her header disallowed, assisted three goals, strengthening the WSL top scorer's reputation as one of the most dangerous attackers in the world.

Wiegman is expected to present an unchanged starting XI for the final group game, with Jess Carter and Alex Greenwood having swapped positions to central defence and left-back respectively, injecting the side with a new vigour and power.

England vs Wales score prediction

Despite their shaky start against France, the Lionesses proved that they are still a force to be reckoned with after their textbook win against the Netherlands. Given that Wales are yet to win a match in the tournament, and have only scored one goal, they will have their work cut out for them to fend off the holders.

Score prediction: England 4-0 Wales

What do England and Wales need to qualify for quarterfinals?

After storming to victory on Wednesday to redeem themselves from their 2-1 loss against Les Bleues, the Lionesses simply need to win this match in order to guarantee progress to the quarterfinals.

Due to their stellar performance against the Netherlands, they have the superior head-to-head record, which means they will go through as long as they match their result against France. Should England draw or lose, the Netherlands would be able to leapfrog them in the table should they take points off the group leaders.

The order is steeper for Wales. Since losing to both the Netherlands and France, the team are on the brink of elimination. They must beat England by at least four goals and hope France win on matchday three to be in with a shot of progressing to the knockout rounds.
