Next West Ham manager odds: Nuno more than 60% likely to join if Graham Potter is sacked image

Graham Potter remains the huge sack race favourite in the Premier League as the fallout from West Ham's fifth defeat from six matches continues.

Will Potter make it to the Monday Night Football against Everton? Will defeat on Merseyside spell the end? Could the only successful West Ham manager in recent times, David Moyes, be the one to put Potter out of his misery?

The 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace left the Hammers in the bottom three after just one win from five league matches. The Irons remain on just three points, shipping 13 goals in the process, and have also been dumped out of the Carabao Cup

The former Chelsea and Swansea boss has been in charge at the London Stadium for only 25 games but has lost over half of them and won just six.

There are deeper issues at the club but a change in the dugout has appeared imminent since Palace became the latest team to win at the London Stadium.

Ironically, the favourite to replace Potter is also in the running to become the next Man United manager, displacing Ruben Amorim who has reportedly been given three matches to save his job.

The Sporting News has all the latest odds on the next West Ham manager.

MORE: Who will be the next Premier League manager to be sacked?

Who is the favourite to be the next West Ham manager?

Nuno Espirito Santo is the big favourite to replace Potter in the West Ham hot seat and make an instant return to the Premier League (4/7 on BetVictor for an implied 64% chance).

The Portuguese manager was sacked by Nottingham Forest during the September international break following a fallout with owner Angelos Marinakis and head of global football Edu.

Nuno had enjoyed a brilliant spell at the City Ground, finishing 7th and qualifying for the Europa League last season just as he did with Wolves in the 2018/19 season.

The 51-year-old's style of football is far more like that of former West Ham manager David Moyes but that was the last time the Irons resembled a competent football team.

Nuno West Ham Odds

Despite Nuno's strong position at the head of the market, lots of press outlets are still running with the idea that former player and manager Slaven Bilic is in line for a return.

Bilic was a popular figure in the mid-90s as a player but the Croatian is best remembered for leading the club to their best points tally in the Premier League era in the 2015/16 season in what was the final season at the Boleyn Ground.

His return would be a popular decision among fans, but could the same be said of Frank Lampard coming home? The current Coventry boss (a drifter in the market to 33/1) started his playing career with the Irons before a legendary spell at rivals Chelsea. His managerial career has been mixed so far but he has done a fantastic job with the Sky Blues.

Despite the clamour for Lampard, it would appear to be a straight shootout between Nuno and Slaven Bilic should the West Ham board pull the trigger. Gary O'Neil - out of work since leaving Wolves last December - is the only other contender shorter than 10/1.

Further down the list, you find the likes of Edin Terzic and Kieran McKenna. Terzic led Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final in 2024, while McKenna has worked wonders at Ipswich in recent years and has plenty of admirers in the top flight despite the Tractor Boys' relegation last season.
