Sam Kerr has become the latest Nike athlete to receive their very own footwear, with the brand officially releasing a player edition of the Mercurial Superfly 10 for the Australian star.

Announced Thursday, Kerr's spin on the performance boot features a colourway inspired by her hometown of Perth, and features a number of her mantras and driving principles.

The boot also includes a nod to another Australian sporting icon - Cathy Freeman - with a stripe down the toe box included as an ode to her iconic Sydney 2000 Olympic bodysuit.

Matildas and Chelsea star Sam Kerr has released her own boot, a player edition of the Mercurial Superfly 10.

Kerr has become the first women's footballer in over two decades to receive the honour, delivering a striking rendition of the boot to mark her decade-plus career at the top of world football.

"Through the creation process it was always important that the boot tell my story: how a kid from East Fremantle got this far by following her dreams," Kerr said in a statement.

"The colours of the boot are what I think of when I think of home: Perth’s ocean and sunsets. It’s a reminder of where I’m from.

"I wanted the boot to really stand out against the grass on the pitch. Something that fans took notice of when you step out onto the field, or when you make a key play in the game."
