Gio Reyna has lacked game time at Borussia Dortmund for several seasons, but his nightmare at the club could soon be coming to an end.

The USMNT international was sent on loan to Nottingham Forest in 2024 to get more minutes on the pitch. However, he only ended up making nine Premier League appearances.

Back at Dortmund in the last campaign, Reyna played just 16 times in the Bundesliga and played a minimal role at the Club World Cup.

Reyna was linked with Serie A side Parma, but he is now set to switch to another German team.

Fabrizio Romano posted on X: "Borussia Mönchengladbach have matched Parma proposal for Gio Reyna. Decision up to the player with Gladbach now confident to win the race."

Should Gio Reyna join Parma or Monchengladbach?

After struggling to get regular playing time in both the Bundesliga and the Premier League, it could be time for Reyna to start afresh in a new division.

Therefore, Parma could be a good option for the player. However, when Reyna has featured in the Bundesliga, he has been effective.

During the 2022/23 season, the American scored seven goals, with two assists in 22 league games for Dortmund.

Monchengladbach finished mid-table last season, whilst Parma narrowly avoided relegation. Being an attacking player, Reyna might find it difficult in Serie A if Parma are fighting to avoid the drop again.

The most important thing is that Reyna joins a team where he will play regularly. Especially, as his country, the United States, is co-hosting the World Cup next year.
