Ange Postecoglou says he has "nothing to prove" as he starts at Nottingham Forest, but joked he will need to win a trophy in his first season.
The Australian manager was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in June, after their Europa League win. The team finished 17th in the Premier League - leading to the club's decision.
Now he comes into Forest to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, after his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis deteriorated and led to his exit.
Postecoglou was speaking at his first press conference at the City Ground since his appointment on September 8th, and was forced to defend criticism that continues from last season.
"I don't see it as a point to prove. I don't have to prove anything to anyone.
"I do like my teams to play exciting football and score goals and get fans excited. I make no apologies about that, that's just the way I am."

Postecoglou jokes he might have to win a trophy in first season
The new Forest boss joked that he might have to win a trophy in his first season in charge to guarantee a second year.
Speaking to the media, Postecoglou admitted he "always wins things" in his second season, but may have to try for this season instead.
He ended Spur's 17-year trophy drought with the Europa League victory, and will look to capitalise that for The Garibaldis.
But it wouldn't be the first time - Postecoglou secured trophies in his first year at Celtic.
Winning a trophy for Forest will solidify the Australian in their history books as they've not secured one in 35 years.
Forest will be part of the Europa League, after Crystal Palace's demotion - so can Postecoglou make it two victories back-to-back but with different clubs?
Postecoglou said; "Looking at the opportunity here, every club wants to be successful for sure, but what I've seen over the last few years, those ambitions are backed up with actions. That's perfect conditions for me."
