There was a time when Dani Ceballos looked like the future of Spain’s midfield, the silky playmaker who led his country to the 2017 Under-21 European Championship final and and earned a move to Real Madrid from Real Betis shortly after.

Eight years later the 29-year-old finds himself fighting for relevance at the Santiago Bernabeu as the transfer window ticks into its final week.

Ceballos has found himself behind Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde in the pecking order, while Arda Guler’s revival under new coach Xabi Alonso has further tightened competition, but Ceballos has resisted calls to move on.

According to Marca (via RM4Arab), the former Arsenal player is determined to stay and fight for a place under new coach Xabi Alonso.

Reportedly, the midfielder believes he can still establish himself as a regular contributor, even as European clubs circle with interest.

The Midfielder will consider exit only if new midfielder arrives at Bernabeu.

Contract until 2027 leaves Real Madrid in control, while injuries could shift his role

The midfielder still has a contract until 2027, which ensures that the club are under no pressure to sell, and with no offers that satisfy Madrid’s demands, his departure has never been close.

More importantly, the club’s recent battles with injuries have opened the door for squad players to step in, something Ceballos could view as his chance to finally gain the rhythm that once made him so influential at youth level.
