Brad Stevens of the Boston Celtics is very good at his job for a few different reasons, but his ability to get the most out of some of his players is one of the main reasons.
Not only that, but Stevens is a great talent evaluator and always looks to add cheap, proven talent.
After the Malik Beasley situation, which seemingly ended over the weekend, the Celtics could make sense as a landing spot.
Celtics still looking to improve squad
Boston is still looking to improve its roster, and with the opportunity to move on from some players and add someone like Beasley, Colin Keane of NESN believes it can't be counted out.
“If that truly is a possibility, plenty of teams might come calling for Beasley, including teams that assumed back in June that Beasley was far beyond the grasp of their budget. The Celtics — who have previously pursued Beasley in the Brad Stevens era — suddenly can’t be ruled out as a landing spot.
“Stevens has been hyper-focused on subtracting — not adding — team salary this offseason. However, adding a minimum contract wouldn’t clash with that game plan,” Keane wrote.

Throughout the 2024-25 season, there was a strong argument to be made that Beasley was the best 3-point shooter in the NBA. He finished with the second-most 3-pointers made and shot 41.6% from beyond the arc.
The Celtics love to get 3-point shots up at a high clip, so in that regard, Beasley is the perfect fit. However, it's also fair to mention that he's not the best defender, which could be an issue for Stevens and Boston.
