The Boston Celtics have been one of the most active teams in the league this summer, and one more deal could create a perfect finish.

This summer started with a bang in Boston, with Brad Stevens making a couple of deals to send out Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. With the team’s cap situation potentially making for future conflict, Boston also let Luke Kornet and Al Horford explore other options in free agency.

With next season effectively being a gap year as Jayson Tatum recovers from a torn Achilles, the team still wants to be in a position to contend when Tatum returns for the 2026-27 season. Considering that the playoffs are still on the table in 2026, the Celtics might be able to pull off a deal that works perfectly for them.

Aaron Gordon to Beantown?

Recently, the Nuggets were reported to be interested in the Celtics’ Anfernee Simons. With Boston looking to send Simons elsewhere, it would love to potentially work out a deal with Denver.

As suggested by Athlon’s Nathaniel Holloway, the Nuggets could send Aaron Gordon and Peyton Watson to Boston for Simons and draft capital. While shipping out Gordon would likely cause some hesitation from Denver, if the Nuggets want Simons, this is one of the only avenues to get there.

For the Celtics, Gordon could be a perfect star at the four next season, and perhaps even play some small-ball five. Add in his seamless fit when Tatum returns in 2026, and the Celtics could pull off one of the best deals of the offseason.
