Giannis Antetokounmpo is looking to bring glory to Greece this summer, and he has already impressed at EuroBasket.
Over the next few weeks, EuroBasket will be in full swing as the Milwaukee Bucks superstar looks to make some noise. While Greece is certainly an underdog, Antetokounmpo’s star power can be enough to rack up some upsets and potentially get his team far.
However, fans will have to wait until the first official game of EuroBasket to see the two-time MVP suit up again. On Friday, Harris Stavrou reported that Antetokounmpo is out for Greece’s final exhibition game against Italy.
EuroBasket could help the Bucks
While Antetokounmpo’s next time on the floor will be in the first game that truly matters, it’s been hard to tell that the previous games leading up to EuroBasket haven’t counted. With Antetokounmpo’s typical fiery play, he has put up some impressive numbers thus far.
While the results will begin to count for much more than the counting numbers next week, Antetokounmpo is already giving fans a preview of what to expect next season in Milwaukee. Considering Greece doesn’t have any other star players, Antetokounmpo has been tasked with carrying much of the load thus far.
With the Bucks sending Damian Lillard out and Myles Turner being the only big addition of the offseason, Milwaukee will need some heroic leadership from Antetokounmpo next season. It will especially help the Bucks if Greece is able to make a deep run at EuroBasket and perhaps win the whole thing.
With Milwaukee still looking to sell the vision of Antetokounmpo being the sole star, Greece’s results over the next few weeks could loom large when the MVP returns to the states.
