Jannik Sinner began the defence of his US Open title with a dominant display against Vit Kopriva on Tuesday (August 26).
The world no. 1 recorded a 6-1 6-1 6-2 victory over the unseeded Czech and will now move onto the second round.
After retiring in the Cincinnati Final against Carlos Alcaraz just over a week ago due to illness, Sinner appeared healthy out on the court at Flushing Meadows, and looked to be back to his usual self.
Any possibility that the top seed may have been feeling out of sorts was dispelled early on in New York as he landed breaks in his opponents' first two service games.
Sinner wrapped up his opening round contest in just under an hour and 40 minutes, with Kopriva partly contributing to his own downfall by committing eight double faults.

After coming through his opening match at the year's final Grand Slam with ease and no major issues, Sinner gave his thoughts on his performance.
"I'm very happy that I'm healthy again and that we did our best to be in the best possible shape here," the Italian said.
"Every year is different and you come here starting this tournament hopefully in the best possible way, which I have done," he added.

The 24-year-old is looking to win the fifth Grand Slam title of his career and third in 2025 alone.
He successfully defended his Australian Open title at the start of the year and won Wimbledon for the first time last month after he beat Alcaraz in the final.
Sinner will take on Australia's Alexei Popyrin in the second round, after the world no. 36 defeated Finland's Emil Ruusuvuori 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-3) on Tuesday.
