Jaron Ennis passed his first test at super welterweight with flying colors. The former unified welterweight champion knocked out Uisma Lima in the first round, officially marking a new chapter of his career with a bang.
It was an offensive clinic for “Boots,” now the interim WBA champion. A heavy favorite, the 28-year-old proved he can handle the change in weight and appears ready to face the big guns at 154.
“Anybody at 154, I'm belt chasing. This is my division, 154 is mine,” Ennis (35-0) proudly proclaimed after the fight. “They said I was doing this, doing that. I’m here now.”
The fans at the Xfinity Mobile Arena went wild when the Philadelphia native made his entrance. It started with the gong of The Undertaker, teasing that he has “phenom” status. He backed it up in the ring.
Ennis went for a jab early and a hook against the career 154-pound fighter. He landed a side body shot. Lima (14-2) attempted to take advantage of the southpaw stance from Ennis with a left, but the latter won the exchange with an uppercut. Ennis dropped Lima, and then dropped him again following a flurry of shots.
Lima was as tough as nails, but nothing could stop the power of Ennis. Knowing he was hurt, Ennis attacked Lima by the ropes, and Lima was on the cusp of falling down again as the referee called for the fight to end.

It’s Ennis’ second win of 2025. Up next appears to be a collision with Vergil Ortiz Jr. in 2026. Ortiz, the interim WBC super featherweight champion, must get past Erickson Lubin on November 8.
Outside of Ortiz, Ennis could face Abass Baraou, Bakhram Murtazaliev, Sebastian Fundora, or Xander Zayas. However, the Ortiz fight is what everyone is clamoring for.
"Line them up, and (Boots) will piece them up," Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn stated.
