For two rookie Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, their futures are looking doubly bright: Not only did they make the legendary NFL squad, but they’re poised to become glamorous reality TV stars.
Netflix released the drop date — June 18 — of Season 2 of its mega-hit series America’s Sweethearts, as well as a cast guide of its stars on Wednesday, June 4.
And both Abby Summers and Charly Barby are poised to light up the small screen.
The day after the big news was announced, Summers posted an Instagram carousel of 12 favorite moments of the team’s recent tour of Texas to drum up support for the Cowboys’ 2025 season — including a cover shot of both of the rookies in their iconic uniforms. They posed with five-year veteran Jada Mclean, whom Netflix calls “one of the team’s highest kickers” and says is planning to retire after this season “if all goes to plan.”
“What a Texa-llent time!” Summers captioned her social media post.
Summers hails from Toledo, and according to Netflix's blog Tudum was recruited to Ohio State’s dance squad her junior year of high school. The streaming service asks, “But can this Buckeye buck the athletic and aggressive cheer style she’s developed over years of competing in favor of the more sassy and sexy DCC style?”
The same June 4 article calls Barby, whose heart broke as the devastating last cut of the 2023-2024 season, “a fan-favorite.”
“After her dreams of becoming a DCC were put on pause, Charly doubled down on her ambitions and moved to Dallas to commit all her time to training,” wrote Tudum. “Shortly before this season’s tryouts, she suffered a pulmonary embolism. Now, Charly hopes to tackle that challenge with the same grace and perseverance she met last season’s setback.”
