The Air Jordan 1 ‘Shattered Backboard’ has made its arrival.
Slated to drop on August 23, the AJ1 ‘Shattered Backboard’ draws inspiration from the moment Jordan went full flight during an exhibition game in Italy the summer after his rookie season. One dunk, one shattered background and an entire arena stunned. Designed in bold hues that draw inspiration from the jersey he wore that day, this release embodies his effortless energy then and now. Available in men's, grade school and pre-school/toddler sizes, the men's iteration retails for $185 and features soft-touch tumbled leather meets iconic colorblocking merges history with everyday energy and flex.
The grade school version, which retails for $145, is classified as sized down but full of impact, and described as a bold classic for the next generation of flight. As for the pre-school and toddler variations, those retail for $70 and $85, respectively, and include the same features. Jordan Brand, in general, has had another successful year of releases.

For example, earlier this year, the company teamed up with Marquette University for a special edition Air Jordan 4, which featured a soft mixture of yellow leather and nubuck in the upper, white laces with metallic gold accents that contrasted against its yellow design and Marquette's distinctive “MU” logo on the hangtag. That release was exclusive to Marquette's athletes and coaching staff.
That followed the hyped Air Jordan 1 Low OG 'Rookie of the Year,' which dropped in April, and was inspired by Jordan's rookie season. The low-top design featured similar color schematics to its high-top predecessor, and the silhouette included a brown and white upper characterized by black laces and the iconic Nike Swoosh also in a black shade.
The Air Jordan 1 ‘Shattered Backboard’ will be available online via launch reservation at Foot Locker and Champs Sports.
