The tight end position remains volatile for fantasy football, and the Week 2 rankings compared to Week 1's confirm that approach.

This is especially true now that two of the top names are dealing with injuries, to varying degrees, that should prompt many fantasy players to line up alternatives, just in case.

Readers must try to dig into the circumstances of why and how fantasy tight ends excelled or disappointed in Week 1, then apply those thoughts into how to align them in Week 2, as we did below.

Keep scrolling for our Week 2 TE rankings -- including a major injured player you need to remove from your lineups ASAP and another star who may not play on Monday night.

Who are the best fantasy TEs Week 2?

Brock Bowers (knee) practiced Saturday and is tentatively scheduled to play on Monday Night football.

However, as we noted Friday, pick up Michael Mayer to possibly replace an inactive Bowers.

On the other hand, George Kittle (hamstring) heads to injured reserve, designation to return, and is out at least several weeks.

Meanwhile, Trey McBride initially ranks No. 1, lining up to carve up an inept Carolina Panthers defense.

We're keeping Sam LaPorta, Travis Kelce, and rookie Tyler Warren near the top, especially with Warren serving as one of the favorite targets of the resurgent Daniel Jones -- yes, that Daniel Jones.

Who are the best Week 2 sleeper TEs?

    • Assuming all goes smoothly on Monday Night Football, Colston Loveland could repeat the success of fellow NFC North TE Tucker Kraft in a favorable matchup against the Detroit Lions -- during the Ben Johnson Bowl.
    • Zach Ertz found the end zone in Week 1 and gets the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night; the Pack let Sam LaPorta churn out 79 receiving yards Sunday.
    • The New York Jets are in a good place to get Mason Taylor more involved for Justin Fields; they'll need to create mismatches against the Buffalo Bills.
    • If Bowers can't go, Mayer will skyrocket into true sleeper territory.
