Updated NFL Weather Week 3: Fantasy football start-sit decisions to watch for rain, wind forecasts image

The weather might not seem like something you have to monitor for fantasy football until December. After all, there are no complete whiteouts in Green Bay or Buffalo in September.

However, this does not mean to completely ignore the forecasts altogether. Rain and winds can impact game scripts and player performance.

Week 3 has the most projected rain thus far. Here are the games expected to experience some wet conditions with rain in the forecast.

NFL Weather Week 3: Fantasy updates

Green Bay Packers at Cleveland Browns

There is a 33% chance of thunderstorms in Cleveland around the time the game will kick off. There will also be some slight wind, but nothing exceeding 10 mph.

If rainfall begins, we could see both teams lean more into their run game.

The Packers would, of course, ride Josh Jacobs, who has yet to have a big game in 2025. As for the Browns, it's more of a mystery whether Quinshon Judkins will be the RB1 or not.

UPDATE (9/21, 9:30 a.m. ET): The forecast in Cleveland has not changed. However, there is expected to be a chance of thunderstorms for the entire game.

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans

The forecast in Tennessee calls for a 31% chance of thunderstorms with virtually no wind. There's nothing too concerning that would warrant you completely benching players in this game.

The Titans' offense has been experiencing the usual rookie quarterback struggles; if there are slippery conditions, it could get messy. The Indianapolis D/ST is a great stream; they should put up a decent showing against rookie quarterback Cam Ward.

UPDATE (9/21, 9:30 a.m. ET): The projected forecast in Tennessee has not changed. There is a chance of thunderstorms starting at 11 a.m., all the way until the end of the game.

New York Jets at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

No thunderstorms, however, there is a 40% chance for rain showers in Tampa Bay. There are no reports of severe winds during the game.

The Jets' offense was horrendous in Week 2; if there are bad conditions, their passing attack might be worse, which will hurt Garrett Wilson's production. Breece Hall is a great start; he should be involved in the short-yardage passing game.

UPDATE (9/21, 9:30 a.m. ET): The forecast in Tampa Bay has changed for the better. After there was a 40% chance of rain showers during the game, it is now at 0%. It is supposed to be 90 degrees, so that' still something to note.

Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars

It's looking like Jacksonville will be playing in another rain-filled game. There is a 43% chance of thunderstorms (the worst of Week 3) with 9 mph winds during the game.

Last time the Jags played in wet conditions in Week 1, they leaned on their run game, and it worked. Travis Etienne had a fantastic fantasy performance in that game and should be able to do the same in Week 3 vs Houston. Bhayshul Tuten can also provide a viable start if needed in a deeper league.

The Texans' passing attack has been quite bad due to the offensive line's struggles. You always start Nico Collins, but the weather might suggest you avoid other weapons in this Texans offense.

UPDATE (9/21, 9:30 a.m. ET): The weather drastically changed for the better in Jacksonville, too. After being projected to have the highest percentage of thunderstorms, there is no rain in the forecast. The wind, however, did creep its way up to 11 mph.

TOP FANTASY PICKUPS: Week 3 waiver wire

New Orleans at Seattle Seahawks

There is a 30% chance of some slight rain in Seattle around kick-off. No major wind, and all around nothing too notable in the forecast.

The Seattle D/ST is an excellent start in Week 3. This will be Spencer Rattler's first time playing on the road this season, and his first time playing outdoors.

If the conditions are slick, this could lead to some sloppy play from a mediocre offense.

UPDATE (9/21, 9:30 a.m. ET): While there is no drastic change, the percentage for precipitation dropped by 3%. There are still no concerning winds during the game.

Dallas Cowboys at Chicago Bears

There is a 33% chance of thunderstorms in Chicago around the start of the game. No concerning winds and nothing else notable in the forecast.

No weather should keep you from starting any of these options in this game. Both teams' defenses have struggled immensely, and if the conditions are wet, this could lead to some blown coverages downfield for players like CeeDee Lamb, Rome Odunze, and George Pickens.

UPDATE (9/21, 9:30 a.m. ET): Nothing has changed in the projected forecast in Chicago. The wind is now hovering just below 10 mph, but still nothing concerning.
