The struggles are beginning to pile up for the Houston Astros as the regular season heads into its final weeks.
Recently, the Seattle Mariners passed the Astros for the top spot in the AL West. The teams seem to be going in different directions, as Seattle is currently riding a nine-game win streak and Houston has a 6-9 record over their last 15.
However, the Astros may get one of their top players back ahead of their highly anticipated weekend series against the Mariners.
Reports suggest Isaac Paredes could return for Mariners series
The Houston Astros placed third baseman Isaac Paredes on the 60-day injured list on July 19 after the 2025 All-Star severely strained his right hamstring while running the bases. Paredes underwent further tests, and original speculation suggested that he could miss the rest of the season.
He chose to forego surgery to repair the hamstring, instead receiving a Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injection to help with the recovery. The goal has been to get Paredes healthy and back in the lineup this season.
Over the weekend, Astros general manager Dana Brown spoke on Paredes' return, saying that he'll most likely be inserted into the lineup at the designated hitter position. FanSided's Drew Koch suggested that he could be returning for the Astros' upcoming weekend series against the Seattle Mariners.
Before getting injured, Paredes had a .259 batting average, .359 on-base percentage, .470 slugging percentage, .829 OPS, and a 2.5 WAR while hitting 19 home runs and 50 RBI.
