The AL playoff race is coming down to the wire, from full-on collapses to late-season pushes.

While the Seattle Mariners have already clinched the AL West, and the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays have locked in playoff spots, the rest of the field is not yet settled As the Cleveland Guardians vie for the AL Central, two spots are available among them, the Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros.

One of these squads will find itself on the outside looking in this postseason. Which will it be?

Standings updated through Sept. 28.

All six postseason berths in the AL have been secured, but the Red Sox entered Sunday as the only team locked into a wild-card spot. The Yankees and Tigers' wild-card spots were clinched after they missed out on their divisional crowns Sunday.

The Astros, meanwhile, were eliminated on Saturday.
