The Philadelphia Phillies have been one of MLB's best teams nearly all season long. Between Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, and their pitching staff, it has been tough for opposing teams to come in and play their own game.
Philadelphia would go on to win its second straight National League East title Monday night in a wild win against the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have set themselves up nicely to coast these next few series and get players ready for the postseason.
This team has the utmost confidence in each other. That was shared by catcher J.T. Realmuto after their Monday night win, via ESPN's Aiden Gonzalez.
"There's a lot of confidence in this room," said Realmuto. "We all believe in each other. We think we're going in a good direction."
Bryce Harper and the Phillies staying focused on the 'bigger picture' following NL East title
Winning the division is just step one for the Phillies. They will be looking to avenge their early exit in the NLDS against their divisional foes, the New York Mets.
"We're a really good team," said Bryce Harper. "I think we're playing really good baseball right now. Just got to keep going, and keep understanding we have a bigger picture and we have things on our mind that we want to win."
Harper and the rest of the Phillies roster's goal is to contend for a World Series title. It has alluded them in previous years, where they had the talent to do so.
"Every team that we've had the last couple years, we've been really good. It just hasn't happened," said Harper. "We just haven't finished with a win, and we've got to do that."
