Every lap matters from this point forward in the Cup Series season.

After a year filled to the brim with unexpected results and performances, it seems things have slowed down a bit on the track thus far. Outside of Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s win at Daytona, most of the figures who have ended the day in and around the victory circle are fairly familiar.

With the calendar dwindling down, there's only so much time left for drivers to put their best foot forward. A strong showing at Darlington could be the difference between postseason play and another early offseason for some Cup Series hopefuls.

Better make the Lady in Black count.

With that, here's what you need to know about the results of Saturday's qualifying for the 2023 Goodyear 400:

Who won the pole for Darlington in 2023?

Martin Truex Jr. captured the pole for Sunday's race, posting the fastest lap time in qualifying. He outpaced Bubba Wallace in the No. 23 car, who will join him in the front row. It's Truex's 21st career pole, and first of the season.
