Joey Logano beat Chase Elliott off a restart with eight laps to go to win the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday. It is the season's first win for Logano.
Elliott was tough in his quest to become the first rookie to win at Michigan, leading 35 of the 200 laps. Logano, though, was dominant, as he led 138 laps during Sunday's race.

"We've been knocking on the door for a win all season," Logano said in his post-race interview on Fox Sports 1. "We got the All-Star win, but it's nice to get that win and lock ourselves into the Chase."
Michigan is a coveted win on the Sprint Cup circuit because it is where manufacturers Ford and Chevrolet are based. It is also the home state of Roger Penske, owner of Logano's ride.
"Ford's backyard, Roger's backyard. This is a great place to win," Logano said.
Several other Chase contenders saw their bid for the checkers derailed early.
While Martin Truex Jr. spun out on lap 46, a few others would have taken his eventual 12th-place finish. Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s chances ended when he hit the wall after contact with AJ Allmendinger on Lap 61, and Kyle Busch's day was over when he blew an engine after 52 laps.
