The Chicago Bulls are set to honor their most recent MVP.
On Thursday, the Bulls announced that they will recognise Derrick Rose next season by retiring his jersey. Set to send his No. 1 to the rafters on Jan. 24, 2026, the Bulls will again honor the 2011 MVP.
While Rose’s career was unfortunately tainted by his myriad of injuries, his time in Chicago was still an incredible display. After Chicago took him with the No. 1 overall pick in 2008 out of Memphis, Rose looked to lead the Bulls back to the league’s biggest stage before injuries derailed a promising career.

A night fit for an MVP
The Bulls’ Jan. 24 matchup will feature the latest addition to the rafters of the United Center as Chicago faces the Boston Celtics. While the Bulls are in the midst of a rebuild, this matchup will be a great opportunity for fans to reminisce about the fun times of the early 2010s.

Winning MVP in only his third season, Rose still stands as the youngest MVP in league history. Leading the Bulls to consecutive No. 1 seeds in 2011 and 2012, Chicago was typically a contender when Rose was healthy.
Add in his banked-in buzzer-beater against the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015, and Rose’s time in Chicago had no shortage of memorable moments. While his departure to the New York Knicks in 2016 was tough for Chicago fans, any time Rose was back in town to play the Bulls for the rest of his career, the love was always there.
Now, with his jersey set to hang over the Bulls’ floor, Rose will get one more night of love from the Chicago faithful.
