Mexico City is the only G League team without an NBA affiliate organization. The Capitanes finished last season with a 16-18 record, tied for ninth in the Western Conference with the South Bay Lakers, while the Knicks (22-11) tied for first in the Eastern Conference with the Osceola Magic.
Buie appeared in 27 games for the Westchester Knicks last season. The 25-year-old guard averaged 21.5 minutes, 11.1 points, 3.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 41.3% on field goals and 68.8% on free throws.
He went undrafted after graduating from Northwestern — where he tallied 2,187 career points — and originally signed a two-way contract with the New York Knicks last November.

Buie led the Wildcats to two NCAA Tournament appearances during his years at Northwestern. They fell short in the second round two seasons in a row: losing to UCLA in 2023, 68-63, and to UConn in 2024, 75-58.
As Buie left the floor after losing to the Huskies, he shared an emotional moment with coach Chris Collins.

“I love you. You're like family. We did it together,” Collins could be seen saying as he hugged the senior.
