Breece Hall criticizes Jets, says they haven’t put him in the best situation to succeed image

The NFL running back market is taking shape, with Los Angeles Rams' Kyren Williams and Buffalo Bills’ James Cook recently signing multi-year contracts. Meanwhile, Breece Hall of the New York Jets is about to enter his final year of his rookie deal with no extension in sight.

When asked about Williams and Cook signing multi-year deals, Hall recognized their success and pointed out that they had been in better situations than he had.

"They’ve done more than me,” Hall said. “They’ve been in better situations. I feel like I’m just as talented as anyone, but those two guys deserve their payday and got what they deserve."

Hall criticized the Jets organization that drafted him, suggesting he hasn’t always been put in the best situations. Despite his obvious talent, especially compared to Williams and Cook, he has yet to get a full workload since his breakout season in 2023.

Hall missed most of his rookie season with a knee injury but bounced back in 2023, rushing for just under 1,000 yards at 4.5 yards per carry and catching 76 passes for 483 yards. He also totaled nine touchdowns that year.

Last season was a disaster for the Jets from the start, especially with Aaron Rodgers now in the mix. Midseason, head coach Robert Saleh was fired, and touches were split between Hall and fifth-round rookie Braelon Allen.

Hall’s production dipped, and he now enters a committee backfield alongside Allen and second-year South Dakota State running back Isaiah Davis. Coach Aaron Glenn has publicly confirmed that all three backs will share carries moving forward.

With the running back market heating up, Hall is heading into a big season. He just wants a chance to show he can handle a full workload and earn the contract he’s been chasing.

How he performs in this new committee backfield could decide the next chapter of his career.
