Potential Michigan starting quarterback Bryce Underwood took to 'X' early Friday to address possible speculation about him walking away from Ann Arbor and coach Sherrone Moore altogether.

The rumor had allegedly been spreading like wildfire across several 247 Sports message boards and was eventually picked up by the 'X' account "Message Board Genuises" Wednesday but with no concrete info attached.

Those "whispers" can be put to rest, as Underwood set the record straight with a simple tweet.

"Lol, y'all say anything on social media," Underwood tweeted.

Given the near-nightmare is over, Underwood can return to putting himself in the best position to become the starter in Week 1. Moore said last month he likes where Underwood is at thus far.

"But he just wants to be around his teammates, he loves football, and loves his family," Moore told On3. "That’s it. It’s not super hard to keep him out of all the crazy stuff, because he doesn’t really go out and do all those things. He’s about football, he’s about his teammates and that’s really the long and short of it."

Underwood was linked to LSU and coach Brian Kelly before having a change of heart last fall. He hasn't looked back since.

Some LSU fans went even further, admitting that the rumors about Underwood were just that: rumors.

Nevertheless, this bump in the road is now clear as both programs likely won't cross paths unless they meet in the College Football Playoff.

For now,  though, the Wolverines have their quarterback of the future. That's the most important. The outside noise is meaningless, plain and simple.

Underwood's Wolverines open the season at home on Saturday, Aug. 30, against New Mexico.
