September is over for the Michigan Wolverines as they have a Week 4 bye before taking on the Wisconsin Badgers at home on Oct. 4.

Through four games, Michigan is 3-1. After losing to a healthy John Mateer at quarterback and an Oklahoma team that was looking like a CFP (College Football Playoff) threat of their own, Michigan was able to go into Memorial Stadium and knock off a convincing Nebraska team with a final score of 30-27.

With a bye this week, a college football insider broke down the Wolverines, calling Michigan a legitimate threat for the College Football Playoff with a favorable schedule the rest of the season.

Joel Klatt labels Michigan a College Football Playoff contender

Michigan has a bye week this weekend, giving them extra time for preparation for their matchup against Wisconsin on Oct. 4. Their strength of schedule, while being the No. 19 team in the nation, has convinced NCAAF insider Joel Klatt to label the Wolverines as a contender for the CFP down the stretch.

"Their schedule makes them a contender," Klatt mentioned. "I think they can get themselves into position to be a 10-2 team by the end of the year, which would put them in that line to potentially be in the CFP."

With the current AP rankings, Michigan is in line to face just two Top 25 teams the rest of the way: No. 21 USC on Oct. 11 and No. 1 Ohio State for the final game of the regular season on Nov. 29.

If the Wolverines can clean up some faults in their pass game, it looks like true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood and Michigan are in line to make a convincing run this season.
