Bluffton (South Carolina) wide receiver Amare Patterson is a three-star prospect in the class of 2027.
But that's likely to change soon.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound pass-catcher already has nearly 20 scholarship offers, highlighted by Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Tennessee, Wisconsin and others.
Early this season, Patterson has scheduled a pair of visits, hoping to get a closer look at potential options.
The South Carolina star will visit Clemson on August 30 and Florida on September 6.
First up is the Tigers, who are making a strong impression early.
"Clemson is a school that stands out to me," Patterson said. "My relationship with the staff has been growing, and they’ve really shown me a lot of love recently."
While it's still early in that relationship, Patterson is already intrigued by the culture of Dabo Swinney's program.
"What sticks out about Clemson is the culture," he said. "Also, their atmosphere, how they develop players on and off the field, and just the standard they hold themselves to. It’s something I respect a lot."
Florida will be the stop the following weekend, and that's yet another school Patterson is building a relationship with early.
"My relationship with Florida is great," he said. "We talk and text a lot and they are always checking in."
The Gators relationship first took off when Patterson was offered following a camp showing in April.
That proved to be a meaningful moment for the rising star.
"The offer meant a lot to me, because it showed that the hard work was finally paying off," he said. "They are consistent with me, and the relationship keeps getting stronger."
It's still far too early to predict where Patterson will end up in college, but Clemson and Florida will clearly get a chance to solidify themselves as contenders in the coming weeks.
