The reigning national champion Ohio State Buckeyes are kicking off the 2025 season with a bang Saturday, hosting the No. 1 Texas Longhorns.
With the stage set, Ohio State is hosting a massive collection of big-time visitors.
This week, Vero Beach (Florida) five-star quarterback Champ Monds confirmed he will be making a return trip to Columbus for the massive showdown.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound signal-caller is rated the nation's No. 1 quarterback and No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2028.
As a freshman, Monds threw for 2,234 yards and 23 touchdowns with five interceptions, as well as 502 yards and nine touchdowns rushing.
Earlier this month, On3/Rivals named Monds the No. 2 player in the country for the class of 2028.
Here's what they had to say in the scouting report:
"One of the more physically and technically advanced passers in the class, Champ Monds has NFL measurables as a sophomore in high school. The nearly 6-foot-3, 220 pound sophomore has 10.5-inch hands and can rip the hell out of the football. He has arm talent to not only push the ball vertically but also layer the football all over the field. Monds will continue to develop consistency as he gains more reps at the high school level, but his ceiling is as high as any player in the country, regardless of position.”
