All the buzz in Cleveland surrounds one basic question: Does Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders have any real chance of becoming the Browns' starting quarterback this season?

The opinions are vastly mixed, but speaking based on the inside intel, chances are he likely won't this season.

But he could be a backup QB to whoever, Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett, starts this season.

CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin sees Sanders as a possible backup option for Stefanski's offense this season, given how things go in the Browns QB room.

"This could just as easily be rookie Shedeur Sanders, depending on how Cleveland's crowded quarterback room shakes out," Benjamin proposed

"Either way, the Browns are in a peculiar position: They don't necessarily boast any high-end prospects, nor do they have an inspiring supporting cast, but they won't be lacking in serviceable options to throw the ball. Pickett is gritty, if streaky, while Flacco is aging and immobile but has a penchant for letting it rip."

Stefanski and Co. will need much more confidence in Sanders than they have currently if they plan to make him the backup QB. Although Flacco handled his last season well at the age of 40, there is always a chance of unforeseen injuries.

In a situation like that, Stefanski and Co. should be able to rely on Sanders.

Yahoo Sports’ Frank Schwab doesn't think that trust will come this soon for the Browns.

"Sanders could end up starting at some point late in his rookie season because the Browns seem like a team that could end up starting four different quarterbacks in a rough season. But make no mistake, Sanders has a long way to go before he gets on the field for the Browns," Schwab argued.

Regardless, the Cleveland fans will have to wait more than anticipated to watch Sanders start.
