Peyton and Eli Manning weren't known for their speed during their days in the NFL. Both quarterbacks made a career by using their arms to attack defenses.
That's not the case with their nephew, Arch Manning.
The Texas QB saw limited action in 2024, as he was the backup for Quinn Ewers for a majority of the season. Outside of two starts with Ewers sidelined and a few showings in garbage time, most of Manning's freshman campaign was spent watching along the sidelines.
With that said, when he did get into game action, it wasn't just his arm that was doing damage. The Longhorns quarterback showed off his ability to rip through defenses with his legs as well, becoming a rising dual-threat option at the position.
Here's everything to know about how fast the quarterback is, including comparing his top speed to uncles Peyton and Eli Manning.

How fast is Arch Manning?
Manning's top speed this season came during a win over San Antonio. He was recorded going 20.7 miles per hour, according to Reel Analytics and Next Gen Stats.
On the play, the quarterback took it himself around the outside and raced untouched to the end zone to put Texas up 28-7 with most of the second quarter remaining.

Though he wasn't even the fastest player of the day — that title would go to his Longhorn teammate Isaiah Bond for his 50-yard score off a bubble pass in the third quarter — Manning still ran for a speed that surpassed any number hit by Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill in 2024, who is known as one of the fastest athletes in the country.

Arch Manning 40 time
Before enrolling at Texas, Manning ran a 4.6 second 40-yard dash, according to On3.com. If he ran that time at the 2024 NFL Combine, he would have been the second-fastest quarterback of the event. In fact, it would've been pretty close to BYU's Kedon Slovis, who clocked in at 4.55 seconds. Sam Hartman came in second with a time of 4.8 seconds.
Manning also has a faster 40 time than several NFL quarterbacks, including Josh Allen (4.75), Trevor Lawrence (4.78), Dak Prescott (4.79), Patrick Mahomes (4.8), Brock Purdy (4.84) and Joe Burrow (4.9).

Arch Manning speed vs. Peyton, Eli Manning
In terms of 40-yard dash attempts, Arch has both Peyton and Eli beat. At their respective NFL Combines, Peyton ran a 4.8 and Eli ran a 4.9, far slower than their nephew's reported time.
Contrary to Eli's unimpressive official mark, Peyton claims his brother ran a 6.2 40-yard dash — with his helmet on — as a 7th grader at the Tulane Football Camp. Meanwhile, his own top speed in an NFL game is reported to be 17 MPH, clocked in a 12-yard first down rush during the third quarter of the 2016 AFC Championship game against Tom Brady's Patriots.

Arch Manning parents
Arch Manning is the son of Ellen Heidingsfelder and Cooper Manning, the eldest of the three Manning brothers. Cooper was on his way to a successful football career, committing to play for Ole Miss like his father, Archie Manning, as a receiver, before he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis the summer before his freshman season.
Though that effectively ended Cooper's NFL dreams, he now has the opportunity to live out that dream through his son.
