Four-star recruit announces commitment to Michigan over Notre Dame image

Last night, Michigan football picked up a major commitment from 2026 four-star defensive lineman Alister Vallejo.

The 6-foot-3, 310-pound defensive tackle is a native of Liberty Hill, Texas, where he will be a senior at Liberty Hill High School. Vallejo chose the Wolverines over Kansas and Notre Dame.

Vallejo is listed as a four-star recruit by both On3 and 247Sports. On3’s Industry Ranking has him listed as the 44th-ranked player in Texas, the 35th-ranked DL and 349th-ranked player overall. 247Sports has him at #31 in Texas, #32 among DLs and 204th overall.

This is a major commitment for coach Sherrone Moore and crew as Vallejo is now the second four-star defensive lineman to commit to the Wolverines in a two-day span. McHale Blade from Simeon High School in Chicago committed to Michigan on Monday.

Ahead of his commitment, Vallejo told On3’s Hayes Fawcett the following: “Michigan felt like home. I’m all in—Go Blue!”

Vallejo is now the ninth commitment for the Wolverines in the 2026 class. On3 has the class ranked 15th in the country and 5th in the Big Ten, while 247Sports lists it as 32nd in the nation and 10th in their conference.

The Wolverines will certainly look to keep adding to the class, but with potential sanctions looming for the Connor Stallions sign stealing scandal, that could be a question mark for some recruits.

Moore will have his work cut out for him as he looks to rebound from an underwhelming 8-5 season in his first season as head coach in 2024.
