The hype around Bryce Underwood isn’t slowing down in the slightest. In fact, it may be becoming larger.

Although Underwood isn’t guaranteed to start, if it were up to The Wolverine’s Chris Balas, Underwood probably would.

“Bryce Underwood, from practice one to practice 15 and what he brings to the table in terms of physical skills, is like nothing anybody's ever seen here before... People who have been here for 35, 40 years say he is by far the best freshman quarterback, true freshman they've seen," Balas said during an episode of “Andy and Ari.”

Underwood has also begun to rub off on his newly minted coaching staff, which includes receivers coach Ron Bellamy.

"He's smart, man," Bellamy said. "The way Bryce attacks football, man, he's the first one, last one. He's a sponge. Always wants to learn, hanging around the receivers. Great leader."

It’s clear coach Sherrone Moore needs to consider taking a chance on Underwood because the talent is apparent.

"The quarterback usually leads the team and guys follow," Bellamy said. "You can see that following now with some of the guys — not just guys in his class, but some of the older guys too, that Bryce has done a good job with."

If Moore plays Underwood, it remains to be seen whether Balas's prediction comes true.
