Texas A&M coach on injured QB: 'He'll be fine' image

Texas A&M moved to 2-0 on the season with its second straight home win, the latest a 44-22 triumph against Utah State on Saturday.

However, the big storyline coming out of that game was the health of Aggie starting quarterback Marcel Reed, who was shaken up in the third quarter. He had taken a big hit and appeared to have landed on one of his hands.

After being treated by A&M's training staff, Reed then left the game and eventually went into the locker room.

Prior to the injury, Reed had thrown for 220 yards and three touchdowns and added 66 yards rushing with a TD.

But reports surfaced in the fourth quarter that Reed was available to return, but with A&M leading comfortably, it was decided to have him sit out the rest of the game. It was even more imperative considering the Aggies have a huge game next week against Notre Dame.

Right after A&M closed out Saturday's win, coach Mike Elko confirmed to the SEC Network in a postgame interview that Reed should be good to go for next week.

That should give A&M fans a sigh of relief knowing Reed should be ready to go for Notre Dame. Not to mention A&M entering Southeastern Conference play later this month.
