Time to hold breath in Baltimore Ravens camp today.

Jackson steps on foot during scrimmage

Quarterback Lamar Jackson gave the Baltimore Ravens a moment of concern on Wednesday when he left practice early after having his foot stepped on. The two-time league MVP went down during team drills about an hour and a half into the session. He got back up, threw a few more passes, and then walked inside with a trainer and team doctor roughly 40 minutes before practice ended.

People also noticed Jackson flexing his right wrist as he left the field. That added another layer of concern, though the team later confirmed he was fine and not dealing with a significant injury.

Ravens protecting their franchise QB

Baltimore has long taken a cautious approach with Jackson in the preseason. He has not played in an exhibition game since 2020 as the Ravens try to limit his exposure to unnecessary contact. The only practice he has missed this summer was an excused absence for personal reasons.

Jackson’s health has been a major talking point ever since he missed significant time in 2021 and 2022 with lower-body injuries. Since then, he has managed to stay on the field, playing every game over the past two seasons.

Teammates confident he’ll be ready

Wide receiver Tylan Wallace admitted he didn’t even notice Jackson had left the field but later said he had no concerns about his quarterback’s status. “Knowing Lamar, he’ll be back before we know it,” Wallace said.

The Ravens open the season in just 18 days with a road matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
