If the Buffalo Bills came into the season with a wish list of how the season would transpire, a lot of those boxes would already be checked off just two games into the year.
For starters, Buffalo defeated the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, which gives them the edge over Baltimore should their be a tie-breaking situation at the end of the season for a higher seed in the playoffs. In addition, the Kansas City Chiefs are 0-2 after losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles. The two will play each other in Buffalo in Week 9, and there is a real chance the Bills enter that game unbeaten. Their schedule between now and then is as follows:
- Week 3: vs. Dolphins
- Week 4: vs. Saints
- Week 5: vs. Patriots
- Week 6: at Falcons
- Week 7: BYE
- Week 8: at Carolina Panthers
Their toughest game will be against the Patriots, who have shown signs of life early in the Mike Vrabel era, but it's at home. Buffalo doesn't leave the Eastern Time Zone until Week 12 when they go to Houston. And while of course no one is celebrating the injury of Joe Burrow, the Bills won't have to face the star quarterback in their Week 14 matchup due to his turf toe injury.
Plus, look at the schedule of the Ravens, who many would say is Buffalo's biggest threat to the one seed.
- Week 3: vs. Lions
- Week 4: at Chiefs
- Week 5: vs. Texans
- Week 6: vs. Rams
They also close out their season with road games against the Packers and Steelers in Week 17 and Week 18, respectively. Baltimore plays the Bears in Week 8, which isn't alarming on its own. However, they go on a three-game road trip after that. So after their Week 8 home game on October 26th, they won't have another home game until November 23rd.
Considering how all these pieces are falling into place so early in the season for the Bills, it would be shocking if they don't end up with the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Ensuring that the road to the Super Bowl goes through Highmark Stadium would be a great sendoff to their long-time home, and lowering a banner would be a terrific way to open the new stadium in 2026.
