Even though Micah Parsons has not participated in the Dallas Cowboys’ preseason or training camp, he has still been around the team.
Parsons joined his teammates Friday evening as the Cowboys prepared to face the Atlanta Falcons in Arlington. As he made his way through the tunnel, Parsons was greeted by fans.
One Falcons fan made it clear where he wanted the star linebacker to be.
“Come to the Falcons,” the fan shouted.
Parsons simply smiled and flashed the “make a call” hand gesture, holding his hand up to his ear.
Atlanta’s interest wouldn’t be surprising. The Falcons have been historically bad at rushing the passer, and last year was no exception. They finished next-to-last in the league in sacks (31).
It’s no wonder they spent two first-round picks on Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. in an effort to fix that problem. Still, if they could somehow land Parsons, he would be a complete game-changer — the same way he’s been with the Cowboys.
Of course, that possibility is only fueled by the tension between Parsons and Dallas ownership. Things took another turn when Jerry Jones went on Michael Irvin’s podcast and claimed Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, refused to listen to a lucrative contract offer.
After Jones’ comments went public, ESPN’s Ryan Clark said he reached out to Mulugheta directly to ask about the alleged exchange.
“He laughed, he said, ‘I’ve never used that phrase in my life,’” Clark explained on air. “So for anyone who is reporting that, for Jerry Jones saying that, this is false. This never happened. This is just another public way to make this situation, which is already ugly, even uglier. David Mulugheta in no way has ever told Jerry Jones or any other general manager or owner that. It’s all bullcrap, it’s all lies.”
