The Detroit Lions have officially made a decision on defensive back Morice Norris' future.
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the Lions waived Norris on Tuesday as teams continue to shorten their rosters down to 53 players.
Wilson adds that Detroit hasn't offered Norris a spot on the practice squad.
"Lions waived DB Morice Norris in a surprising move after game-stopping injury two weeks ago. Promising young player was on 53, p-squad for Detroit all 2024, was headed for solid 2025 campaign. Per NFL sources, Lions haven't offered a spot in any capacity at this time," Wilson said on X.
Norris totaled four tackles during the preseason in two games. The 24-year-old missed the final two games of the preseason for Detroit after suffering a scary injury versus the Atlanta Falcons on August 8.
Though he likely won't be with the Lions in 2025, Norris should be able to find an opportunity elsewhere. The Fresno State product appeared in two games last year for Detroit, tallying 32 special teams snaps.
The Lions will open the regular season on the road versus the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
