The Green Bay Packers drafted Matthew Golden in the first round of this year’s draft. However, that move could signal that a wide receiver is on the way out. Since arriving, Golden has done nothing but prove that he’s deserving of the hype surrounding him.
Teammate Romeo Doubs recently praised the rookie.
“Oh, man. Kid's a stud," Doubs said Tuesday, via Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com. "Doesn't say much, but he just comes in and works. He's been real consistent in that area... kid is playing fast right now, so I'm excited to see it.”
With all the buzz around Golden — and his strong early performance — speculation is growing that a veteran receiver could be on the move.
“The Packers picked the fastest receiver in the draft, Matthew Golden, and early returns from Green Bay say the rookie’s overall athleticism has already shown up," Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote. "It’ll be interesting to see whether a veteran receiver shakes free in a trade based on Golden’s development."
Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport suggests that Doubs could be the odd man out, potentially landing on the trade block.

“There are no shortage of teams with passing-game deficiencies, so if the Packers really do decide to shop Doubs, finding a trade partner shouldn’t be especially difficult,” Davenport wrote.
With Aaron Rodgers signing with the Steelers on Thursday, all signs point to a possible reunion in Pittsburgh.
“Whether the Pack want to admit it or not, the trade window has just been cracked wide open. And if Rodgers wants one of ‘his guys’ to help elevate the Steelers’ offense — history suggests he does — Doubs might be the next name off Green Bay’s roster,” Lombardi Ave’s Matt Sidney wrote.
If Doubs is traded, he would almost certainly prefer to join a team with a familiar face at quarterback — and Rodgers certainly fits that bill. The duo could be reunited once again, this time in black and gold.
