Colts contributor uses bizarre food analogy to compare Anthony Richardson, Daniel Jones image

The story of Colts training camp has been the competition between Anthony Richardson Sr. and Daniel Jones at quarterback. Both have had their moments, but it’s a battle which seems too close to call, despite a decision likely coming very soon.

WIth the impending decision from Shane Steichen, WISH-TV’s Heather Lloyd used a bizarre breakfast food analogy to describe the Colts quarterbacks entering the 2025 season.

Lloyd referred to Daniel Jones as oatmeal, which she said “is fine.”

It does the job, fills you up, and gives you the energy you need to get through the day. It’s not exciting, but it’s consistent and you know what to expect from it.”

Oatmeal isn’t necessarily a negative, according to Lloyd. Just not as exciting as Richardson, who received a more exotic comparison to eggs benedict.

When it’s good, it’s really, really good. It’s something you want more of,” she said. “But if it’s bad, it could make you really sick, and then you’re left saying, ‘Dang, I should have just had the oatmeal.’”

Both are appropriate comparisons. Jones has a reputation as a guy who can get the job done, even if he’s not a superstar. Richardson, on the other hand, has the potential to be transformative, but can just as easily cause you harm.

According to Lloyd, both are able to help the Colts in 2025, even if they both end up having to start games.
