Indianapolis Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren has been everything the team expected and more through two weeks.
The first round pick from Penn State has 11 catches for 155 yards in his first two games as a Colt, leading the offense in both categories. Clearly, he’s made his mark on the offense already, proving how dynamic and important he is to the passing attack.
But Warren’s early impact may come at a cost, as he was listed as a non-participant on the team’s first practice report of the week ahead of their Week 3 divisional clash with the Tennessee Titans. Warren was listed with a toe injury. While he was unable to suit up, Warren was still spotted at practice, watching on from the side, a positive sign.

Still, the extent of the ailment is unknown, and Warren’s absence would be a massive blow.

Warren played 66 snaps on Sunday, one of the higher amounts a Colts tight end has ever had. https://t.co/YCKH6oXa2b pic.twitter.com/Z8sN3AmqYJ
While Indianapolis has no shortage of offensive weapons to use without Warren, losing the do-it-all tight end would limit Shane Steichen’s offense and force him to be more vanilla and one-dimensional.
That said, it’s early in the week. Resting Warren on Wednesday could be a precautionary decision. His practice participation on Thursday and Friday will be more revealing of his status prior to Sunday.
