The Indianapolis Colts have been one of the NFL’s biggest surprises in the early stages of the 2025 season. One of the major reasons why has been their offense, which has been on a crazy pace to open the year.

Daniel Jones led the Colts to 10 consecutive scoring drives to open the season, a streak no other team in league history has matched, and Indianapolis remains the only team in the league to not have punted yet in 2025. Indy’s offense holds a 87.5% scoring drive rate, the best in the NFL.

Jones himself is second in the league in passing yards (588). Jonathan Taylor, the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Denver Broncos, leads the NFL in rushing yards (236) as well.

The early signs have been encouraging for Shane Steichen’s offense, who preaches the importance of consistency as head coach. While expecting the same level of elite production for the rest of the regular season is far-fetched, the Colts offense is being considered legitimate based off their first two outings.

In evaluating surprise trends to start 2025, ESPN’s Stephen Holder believes you should be buying into the hype as the Colts have one of the league’s most potent offenses.

“Indy is on the kind of offensive tear you might expect in the Peyton Manning era,” Holder said. “No one is predicting that audacious level of consistency, but the Colts' combination of decisiveness from QB Daniel Jones, savvy playcalling from coach Shane Steichen and a versatile stable of offensive weapons positions them to remain a dangerous offense. The Colts rank second in offensive expected points added (23.6) and are tied for first in yards per play (6.5).”

Jones has been an excellent offensive facilitator, as seven different players have caught a pass this season.

If the Colts are to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2020, they’ll need Jones and the entire offense to continue their production, especially when division play begins next week against the Tennessee Titans.
