For the first time in over a decade, the Kansas City Chiefs have started the season 0-2. Now, there are a lot of reasons the Chiefs are 0-2.
For one, the injury bug has hit this team with injuries to wide receiver Xavier Worthy, running back Elijah Mitchell, and they are dealing with the suspension of wide receiver Rasheed Rice.
Yet despite that, the Chiefs were in both of the games they lost against the LA Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles.
But something those two losses have in common and that was the play of tight end Travis Kelce.
In Sunday’s game against the Eagles, Kelce was responsible for an interception in the red zone that ended up being the difference in their three-point loss.
He was also responsible for the injury to Worthy as well and now, ex-ESPN host Trey Wingo is saying that Kelce is starting to be a liability to the team.
“Here’s the hard truth that Chiefs fans don’t want to hear is that their tight end, Travis Kelce, is killing the Chiefs right now.”
“You go back and look at that week 1 loss in Brazil, he had a touchdown in his hands late in that game, dropped it,” Wingo said. “It was in his hands, dropped it.”
In the comment section, some Chief fans agree with Wingo; of course, there are others who pointed out the injuries and suspension that have hit this team.
But you do have to wonder why the once reliable Kelce has the yipees when catching the ball in critical situations, which even goes back to the Chiefs' blowout loss to the Eagles in the Super Bowl.
The elephant in the room that no one wants to address is could it be his personal life is starting to be a distraction.
Kelce has talked more about his recent public engagement to Taylor Swift than football and you have to wonder now if he is having a hard time trying to balance his personal and professional life. If the Chiefs don’t turn it around soon, those questions are only going to get louder.
