The Minnesota Vikings have been very active over the last week when it comes to trades. They shipped veteran defensive tackle Harrison Phillips to the New York Jets and most recently traded quarterback Sam Howell to the Philadelphia Eagles.
In exchange for both players, the Vikings have loaded up on Day Three draft picks for the potential of making an even bigger move - a trade for a receiver. They've received two sixth-round picks and a fifth-round pick in exchange for Phillips and Howell, which only put more fuel on the Adam Thielen rumors fire.
"[The] Vikings have added draft picks and shed salary with recent trades of Harrison Phillips and Sam Howell, setting the stage for a receiver deal," Jeremy Fowler says via X. "Yes, Adam Thielen is in the mix there. But the Vikings have several lines out on the position league-wide."
Adam Schefter seconded this thought.
"By adding an extra pick via trade this morning, the Vikings now have added ammunition to go trade for a wide receiver," Schefter said on X. "They have inquired on former Vikings WR Adam Thielen, but Carolina has been reluctant to deal the respected and productive veteran."
That last little piece of information is the biggest one to keep an eye on. The Vikings are interested in a reunion with Thielen, but are also looking elsewhere. Perhaps a name we haven't heard yet ends up in Minnesota.
