That was fast. The renewed chemistry between Justin Fields and Garrett Wilson that New York Jets fans saw as early as OTA's has showed up in the first quarter of the regular season. In New York's season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Fields had driven the Jets to Pittsburgh's 34-yard line hoping to retake the lead following an Aaron Rodgers touchdown drive.
Fields changed the play call at the line of scrimmage, dropped back to pass, then threw a beautiful ball deep down the rain-soaked field. He hit Garrett Wilson, his former teammate at Ohio State University, in stride at the 5-yard line despite good coverage and Wilson ran into the end zone for six.
Ohio State connection! Justin Fields hits Garrett Wilson for a 33-yard TD and the #Jets grab the lead back.

This is exactly what Gang Green had been looking forward to all offseason and preseason. These two have the potential to make a superstar pairing together, so long as Fields can avoid his worst habits and rise to the challenge of the Jets' 2025 season.
The Jets attempted a two-point conversion after the touchdown with a Pittsburgh penalty that moved the try closer but it was no good. With a 9-7 lead in the second quarter, hopefully we'll see this Fields-Wilson connection hit again soon.
