Bears vs. Commanders final score, results: Jayden Daniels' fumble leads to Jake Moody game-winning FG for Chicago win image

JUMP TO:

A year after the Washington Commanders defeated the Chicago Bears on a Hail Mary, the Bears got their revenge, 25-24. Chicago stole the game from Washington late thanks to new kicker Jake Moody, who made four field goals including one as time expired.

The Bears got off to a hot start, scoring the game's first 13 points on two field goals and a touchdown. Chicago's defense played a huge role in that, intercepting Jayden Daniels at the goal line to keep Washington out of the endzone.

However, as the Bears kept settling for field goals, the Commanders were able to take the lead. Down six late in the third quarter, Daniels found Luke McCaffrey wide open for a touchdown, one of the quarterback's three scores of the game.

The two sides then traded touchdowns, allowing the Commanders to take a two-point lead deep into the fourth quarter. They were about to ice the game away when Daniels bobbled a handoff to Jacory Croskey-Merritt, allowing the Bears defense to get their third takeaway of the night.

Caleb Williams then led the Bears' offense down the field, allowing Moody to kick the game-winning field goal. Moody, who spent the past few seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, was making his Bears debut in place of the injured Cairo Santos.

The difference in the game were the turnovers, as Washington gave the Bears teh ball three times while Chicago was turnover-free on the night. With the win, the Bears improve to 3-2 off the bye, while the Commanders fall to 3-3.
