Chiefs vs. Lions final score, results: Patrick Mahomes scores four times in dominant Kansas City victory image

JUMP TO:

After entering the week 2-3, the Kansas City Chiefs had perhaps their best game of the year to defeat the Detroit Lions, 30-17.

Of course, Patrick Mahomes had a strong performance, producing all four Chiefs touchdowns on the night. The Chiefs quarterback led the offense to five scoring drives, dicing up the Lions defense with ease.

The game began with the Lions marching down the field, but seeing a touchdown taken off the board after a Jared Goff illegal formation at the goal-line. That set the tone for the game, as the Lions made more mistakes than the Chiefs on both sides of the ball.

Mahomes and the Kansas City offense scored their first touchdown on their first drive, then after the Lions answered with a touchdown, the Chiefs once again marched down the field. Kansas City scored two touchdowns in the first half, taking a three-point lead to the break, then opened the second half with another scoring drive.

Overall, Mahomes had 257 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, 32 rushing yards and one rushing touchdowns. Travis Kelce chipped in six catches for 78 yards, a season-high that led the team on the night, while Hollywood Brown scored twice and Xavier Worthy scored once.

On the other side, the Lions had trouble overcoming injuries, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Detroit forced just one punt while the Chiefs scored on five of seven possessions, not including kneel downs at the end of both halves.

Neither side produced a turnover, but the Lions failed to convert both of their fourth-down attempts. Jared Goff had just 203 passing yards and two touchdowns, while the Lions had less than 100 rushing yards overall.

The Chiefs improve to 3-3- and remain a game back in the AFC West, while the Lions are now 4-2 and fall to half-a-game back of the Green Bay Packers.
