Tonight, Game 1 between the Avalanche and the Lightning kicks off the action in the Stanley Cup Final. 

It's two teams that were predicted to be here at the start of the season, and now months later, they are the last clubs standing in the hunt for the Stanley Cup.

The Avalanche have rolled through the postseason, needing just four games to beat the Predators in the first round, six to take down the Blues in the second and four to dismantle the Oilers in the Western Conference Final. They enter the final series as the favorites. 

But it will be no easy task for Colorado as Tampa Bay is the reigning back-to-back champions. The Lightning needed seven games to defeat the Maple Leafs in the first round but followed that by beating the Panthers in four and the Rangers in six in the Eastern Conference Final.

What time is the Stanley Cup Final tonight?

  • Time: 8 p.m. ET | 6 p.m. MDT

The final series begins Wednesday, June 15. Puck drop for Game 1 is set for 8 p.m. ET. 

The Avalanche will enter the contest having had eight days of rest. They closed out the Western Conference finals on June 7. 

The Lightning will have three days of rest before Game 1.
