Burnley have struck a significant deal with Chelsea to bring in promising young defender Bashir Humphreys.

The 21-year-old centre-back is set to join the Clarets on an initial loan, with a mandatory buy clause that will see the move become permanent next summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Burnley has beaten competition from Leeds United to secure Humphreys' signature.

Burnley secures future star

The deal ensures that Humphreys will sign a five-year contract with Burnley after his loan spell, regardless of how much playing time he gets under manager Scott Parker this season.

Humphreys, who spent last season on loan at Swansea City, impressed with 24 appearances in the Championship, even managing to find the back of the net once.

Burnley views him as a key part of their defensive setup, both for the present and the future, as they continue to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level.

This move reflects Burnley’s commitment to investing in young talent, and Humphreys is expected to play a vital role in their plans moving forward.

As he prepares to make the switch to Turf Moor, all eyes will be on how the young defender adapts to life in the Premier League.
