Liverpool return to Premier League action after the international break as they travel to Turf Moor to face newly promoted Burnley on Sunday, September 14.

The Reds will be eager to extend their perfect start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign after winning their first three games, including that dramatic 1-0 victory over Arsenal last time out.

For Burnley, it has been a topsy-turvy start to the new campaign with a win over Sunderland and defeats against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

They were outplayed by Spurs in the opening week, but they put up a tough fight at United before the international break and only lost to a late Bruno Fernandes penalty.

Overall, there's a lot to like about Scott Parker's men, but they will have a real test on their hands when they lock horns with the defending champions.

Burnley vs. Liverpool lineups: Confirmed starting XI, team news

Burnley have several injury concerns with the likes of Conor Roberts, Zeki Amdouni, Jordan Beyer and Manuel Benson missing against the champions.

Martin Dubravka keeps  his place in goal with Kyle Walker handed the responsibility of leading the backline against Liverpool's potent attack.

In midfield, Lesley Oguchukwu and Josh Cullen will have a massive role to play if Burnley intend to seek something from this fixture.

The partnership of Lyles Foster and Jaidon Anthony up front will be crucial for Parker as both players are in decent goal-scoring form. Foster scored against United in the previous game whereas Anthony seems Burnley's most dangerous threat in attack with three goal contributions.

Burnley starting XI (4-3-3, right to left): Dubravka (GK) — Walker, Esteve, Ekdal, Hartman — Cullen, Ogochukwu, Laurent — Tchaouna, Foster, Anthony

Burnley subs: Weiss, Worrall, Edwards, Humphreys, Florentino, Flemming, Pires, Broja, Mejbri

Injured: Beyer (knee), Amdouni (knee), Roberts (knee), Benson (calf)
Suspended: None

The big story for Liverpool is that new record signing Alexander Isak will not be involved. Slot had previously indicated the striker may need to be eased into action after missing preseason with Newcastle United while effectively being on strike to force a transfer.

Jeremie Frimpong is back in the squad after a hamstring injury. Curtis Jones was ruled out this week due to an issue sustained in the win over Arsenal. Ibrahima Konate, who limped off against the Gunners, returned to action for France and is ready to take the field against Burnley.

Conor Bradley, who was injured at the start of the season, featured for Northern Ireland in their 3-1 defeat to Germany, but Dominik Szoboszlai keeps his place at right-back after his sensational performance against Arsenal.

Liverpool starting XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Allison (GK) — Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez — Gravenberch, Mac Allister — Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo — Ekitike

Liverpool subs: Mamardashvili, Gomez, Endo, Chiesa, Robertson, Frimpong, Bradley, Nyoni, Ngumoha

Injured: Jones (undisc.)
Suspended: None
