FINAL: No. 16 Corner Canyon crushes No. 23 Liberty, 45-14 image

Arizona's top-ranked Liberty traveled to the Beehive State to face Utah's top-ranked Corner Canyon.

DRAPER, Utah, Sept. 5 — It was supposed to be a battle between the top programs from Arizona and Utah.

It turned out to be no match.

The TSN No. 16 Corner Canyon Chargers made easy work of the TSN No. 23 Liberty Lions, 45-14, Friday night in front of a home crowd in Utah. The Chargers led 14-7 after the first quarter and stretched that to 21-7 heading into the halftime. Two more touchdowns coming out of the half put the game out of reach at 35-7, and Corner Canyon cruised to the finish line for the victory.

Combined with the Basha [Chandler, AZ] Bears' 30-24 win over the TSN No. 12 Orange [CA] Lutheran Lancers later that evening, Liberty is likely to fall out of the Top 25 and into the No. 2 position in Arizona heading into next weekend.

Corner Canyon, meanwhile, has climbed from their position as the preseason No. 25 in The Sporting News High School Football Top 25 all the way to No. 16, and they are in good position to climb even higher with several teams losing in front of them over the weekend.

Next up for Corner Canyon (4-0) is another home date with the Brighton [Salt Lake City, UT] Bengals (1-3). Liberty (1-1) will be on the road again, but this time back in Arizona at the Highland [Gilbert, AZ] Hawks (0-2).
