Justin Murphy won our fan vote for Georgia High School Football Player of the Week for the week ending September 28.
Murphy, a junior dual-threat quarterback for the North Clayton [College Park, GA] Eagles, completed 7-of-11 passes for 113 passing yards, but he did most of his damage with his feet in the Eagles' 42-41 nailbiter over the Stephenson [Stone Mountain, GA] Jaguars. Murphy piled up 237 yards rushing with three touchdowns, lifting his team to the victory with a 5-1 record at the time.
Murphy and his Eagles beat the Luella [GA] Lions last week to improve to 6-1 with Murphy once again leading the way. He finished 17-of-21 passing for 221 yards and three touchdowns while adding another 87 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns on the ground in another shootout. Ultimately, the Eagles prevailed, 45-38, over the Lions.
The win ensured North Clayton of its first winning season since 2011.
